The Exadata performance improvement results exceeded our expectations, reaching 55%. Some processes are even 4X faster. The performance gains have been incredibly valuable. Additionally, we simplified our entire environment by consolidating both our core Avaloq and non-Avaloq databases on the same database cluster and streamlined the network.

Manfred GrasserHead of Database Services, LGT Financial Services

LGT Financial Services is a leading international private banking and asset management group, owned by the Liechtenstein Princely Family for over 90 years. LGT employs over 6,000 people across more than 30 locations worldwide. Fast growth put pressure on application development, cloning needs, costs, as well as strict SLAs for backup and restore. LGT leaders realized the need for an infrastructure upgrade to IBM Power servers. Moving both transaction processing and data warehouse workloads with no code changes to Oracle Exadata Database Machine brought a 55% performance improvement, a 30% TCO reduction including half of the licenses, and an 80% improvement in batch processing. Database availability increased with Real Application Clusters (RAC). Daily storage backup and cloning 20 TB of data in one hour was achieved with ZFS Storage Appliance.
