Oracle Linux : Unable to rebuild the initramfs with "dracut module 'network-legacy' cannot be found"

SYMPTOMS:

  • Failing to update to a new kernel version using OSMH leading to booting issue due to the missing Initramfs
  • dracut fails during the transaction with the following error:
# dracut -f /boot/initramfs-5.4.17-2136.343.5.1.el8uek.x86_64.img 5.4.17-2136.343.5.1.el8uek.x86_64

dracut: dracut module 'network-legacy' cannot be found or installed.

CHANGES:

None.

CAUSE:

A drop-in file exists that forcibly includes the network-legacy module in dracut config (e.g.,
