How can I validate if an email approval notification went out to the manager assigned?

We are having escalations of purchase requisition email approval delegations not being sent to the delegate. How can I check in the system if the email generated ? The manager was able to see the approval notification via the notification bell icon, but they did not receive the email. Thanks
