Currently, there is no way to automate this process. We have a lot of report using the GL Account Analysis subject area and since it will be deprecated, all of these reports will be affected. We will continue to need these reports, so we must replace the GL Account Analysis columns with the Configurable Account Analysis columns. This will take us a long time if we need to do it manually - is there a way to automate this transition fully or partially?

So after the subject area is deprecated you'll see this symbol next to the subject area and the data will come up as a query error.

Right click on GL Account Analysis and click replace dataset. Select your new Configurable Accounts Analysis subject area.

Next, most of the columns auto populate.

Be sure to check each column because sometimes it populates incorrectly like in the below instance.

This process goes fairly quickly, but can get tedious if you have a lot of reports. My recommendation is to go through all your reports and see which ones have the GL Account Analysis and add them to a specific folder in your Dev instance. Then implement CAA and then do all the replace datasets in all the reports then promote the reports back to production once you've also implemented CAA there. It hopefully shouldn't take too much time, let me know if you have any questions I just did this for our reports in March and it took about two workdays.

@Caroline Blanchard wow thank you, I have not seen this method posted anywhere else. I am going to try it!

I will still respond on this post if I find out any other information how to cut down the time this takes.
