While the affidavit is being sought only from newly admitted students, some departments had begun asking existing students to resubmit it during re-admission. It was during this process that the boycott emerged.
Speaking to The Times of India, AICTE chairman T G Sitharam said the Union education ministry will issue a gazette notification for creating new IDs for faculty members. "We have already approached the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) and they have accepted the proposal. It will remove the ghost faculty issue," Sitharam said.
The academic council at a meeting last week decided to allow the student concerned - Paramanand Mahaveer Toppannawar (26) - to attend classes from July 28.
It was noted that Pandit had skipped the conference of Vice-Chancellors of Central Universities without formal approval, they said.
